Every year at Learning Technologies we aim to take a big-picture view of where learning technologies are taking us. This year, we’re delighted to invite back futurist Gerd Leonhard to share with us his views of how the learning landscape will differ in the future. We’re not talking here necessarily about the changes technology will bring. We can expect individual, group and societal behaviour to differ in the future as our attitudes to information, communications and sharing change, and this will have a profound effect on the way we learn.

Future learning: how our learning landscape is all set to change

Popular former Learning Technologies keynote Gerd Leonhard returns to the conference and asks what the future holds for workplace learning and development. New technologies will have an impact certainly – whether telepresence, haptic presence or new human-machine interfaces. Equally as important, though, are the staggering economic, political and social changes that can be expected. How will these change the ways we learn? Drawing on his extensive research into technology, education and beyond, Gerd will explore:

• The key technologies that will alter the learning landscape
• What we can learn from technology’s impact in other areas
• How the social impact of networking and teleworking will affect learning
• The likely changes to our concept of knowledge in the connected era
• How the internet of things will alter our perception of learning
